Credit Analyst - II Position

Job Description

The Credit Analyst – II will conduct credit investigations, prepare and analyze financial statements and tax returns for detailed spreading; analyze routine credit information pertaining to commercial loan requests as well as consumer and residential loans to determine repayment capacity. Prepares credit memoranda for presentation to commercial loan officers and/or loan committees and Board of Directors; furnishes information in relation to credit inquiries; completion of Loan Reviews and Renewals; analyzes value and suitability of collateral; provides assistance to commercial loan officers as requested.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigating all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, bank references, and in-house credit information.
  • Spreading and analyzing financial statements andb tax returns and related material.
  • Analyzes financial data such as liquidity, profitability and leverage via the appropriate financial ratios.
  • Review appraisals and other reports to conclude the adequacy of collateral and leverage ratios.
  • Prepares summaries, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  • Conduct analysis of the market (customers) and industry (competition, suppliers, and potential new entrants) and management teams.
  • Bids and engages appraisals, Phase 1 ESAs and other environmental reports on behalf of the bank.
  • Assist with special projects and reporting assignments.
  • Attend joint meetings with Lenders and Borrowers, both in bank and offsite.
  • Develop a working knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s Loan & Credit Policy.
  • Assist in the preparation of term sheets, commitment letters and loan documents for loan closings.
  • Requests and follows up with borrowers to obtain financial statements, tax returns and other information necessary to complete loan proposals, annual reviews and loan renewals.
  • Interacts with borrowers to obtain additional information to complete credit memoranda.
  • Completes required compliance training on an annual basis as assigned.


Required Skills

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information, as appropriate.
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
  • A high level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy and organizational skills required.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and effective judgment skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills – A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Proficiency in utilizing spreading software such as Moodys, BakerHill, etc.



The bank will provide additional opportunities for training as requested from Florida Bankers, ABA, or RMA.


Required Experience

The candidate shall have a minimum of five years of credit underwriting experience, formal credit training from a company such as Omega Performance or comprehensive internal bank credit training programs all of which should include UCA (Uniform Credit Analysis), financial accounting for lenders, and commercial real estate lending analysis. including financial statement and tax return analysis skills.


Education Experience

Bachelor’s Degree. Business, finance, accounting major preferred, other majors with a business minor also acceptable; or equivalent experience.
